Givenchy Acti’mine Makeup Base

Givenchy Acti’mine makeup base SPF 15 is a must have for me. I’ve been using it for over 6 years now and I won’t give it up for anything!

It’s a shaded skin primer that you apply before your foundation that doesn’t only help hold your makeup, but also leaves your complexion luminous and fresh. Think of it as a breakfast for your skin. You can also apply it alone without foundation if you have a clear skin and like to add a touch of light to it.

It is made from a fantastic water-in-silicone formula which creates a smooth, even toned look while also correcting any redness, blotches or dullness. It might feel thick at first but it will be only few minutes till your skin absorbs it and looks luminous,  nourished and fresh.

Available shades:

• Kiwi – Light green base to counteract redness.
• Plum – Light violet to brighten a yellowish complexion.
• Strawberry – Pale pink base to revitalize a gray complexion.
• Mango – Melon base to add life to any coloring.
• Milk – White base with mother of pearl for a luminating effect.
• Peach – Peach base to unifying neutral shade for all skin types.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

I’ve always been a fan of high end makeup brands. But since I always wear makeup I’ve decided to look for something more reasonably priced for daily use.  That’s when I read about Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, it has really good reviews.

I got a 30 ml bottle that cost 18.6$ (70 Dhs). The foundation is light weight, easy to apply and gives a dewy yet slightly matt finish. It takes couple of minutes for the skin to absorb it. I find it of a medium coverage and lasts long enough. Bourjois claims it lasts for 16 hours, I really don’t leave makeup on all that long to test what they say, but it does last for as long as i leave it on which is about 6 hours or so.

I can’t say I’m very fond about this foundation, I dont think it’s the texture as much the color. I think there aren’t many shades available so it’s either too light or too dark. You’d have to mix shades to get the right one. I think I can find a better one in the market for the same price…I just need to keep looking.

Lady Gaga: MAC Viva Glam

I gotta admit…I’m no fan of Lady Gaga and I really don’t find her music exceptional.  And when it comes to looks, lady gaga is not the best to represent a beauty brand, but maybe sometimes weird in addition to popularity are the right combination of a successful formula.  So Mac is sticking to its successful formula for two years in a row as Lady gaga will be returning as M.A.C.’s Viva Glam spokeswoman in 2011.  Will she be able to achieve the same success as last year? Let’s wait and see!
